Powders
Twenty-two years of digging into nutrition, plants, soil and the diseases of civilisation has produced a rather unusual range of powders. There is now an enormous body of scientific research into the thousands of compounds found in plants — including polyphenols, flavonoids and other phytonutrients — alongside the vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, proteins and fibre they provide. Much of this research has explored their biological activities and potential relevance to the mechanisms underlying a host of modern diseases, including the diseases of civilisation. Seven Plants to Save the World delves deeply into that evidence.
The powders are where we bring that knowledge down to earth — literally. Ingredients have been selected not simply because they are regarded as "good for you", but because particular plants, seeds, fruits, leaves, roots, algae and seaweeds can provide especially useful sources of the vitamins and minerals we wanted each formulation to contain, alongside their naturally occurring phytonutrients and other nutritional compounds. We seek ingredients grown in good, healthy soils, with our principal wholesaler going as far as testing the mineral content of growers' soils. They are gently dried at low temperatures to help maintain their nutritional qualities, then combined by hand in small batches.
Each formulation has a reason for being there. No fashionable ingredients thrown into a tub, no miracle cures and no magic bullets — just twenty-two years of research, experimentation and observation distilled into a teaspoon.
